Refuge
ARP
Located
nearby Palasina Lakes and also close to Valnera Pass (2677 meters), the
refuge represents a surprising example of how mountain buildings can be
luxurious. It lays at 2400 meters over sea level, and it’s run by ARP
srl.
This
nome comes from “pasture” (“alpeggio” in Italian) because one of
the previous proprietaries used to take his cows in these places, when he was
younger. It’s
a multi – stories building, which is more similar to a normal hotel
than a refuge; you can stay there overnight, and of course you can enjoy
hot meals. The interiors are even luxiurious, for an excursionist; what
more, there’s a wide terrace where it’s really pleasant doing
sunbathing after a good lunch. This
refuge offers 110 bed places, with a six places winter room; there are
even double bed rooms, similar to hotels’ ones. I recommend to get
there between June, the first, and 15th October.
The
new telephone number is +39 348 1548012,
while the website is www.rifugioarp.it
.
Located
in a wide plan, the refuge is reachable from Estoul, 1815 meters, via
Chanlossere, in about two hours, using path number 5. It’s a “T”
path: that means Touristic Itinerary, so it’s to be taken an easy run.
The
road is also carriageable, the best choice for a mountain bike tour.
From
ARP is possible to reach several peaks, as Valfredda Peak (2944 meters),
Valnera Peak (2754 meters) and Bieteron Mount (2764 meters). The refuge
is also a good step along path number 105, which links Champoluc with
Gressoney St. Jean.
Another
interesting run is the “circle” wich links Estoul’s Lakes (2433
meters) and Valnera Peak. Finally, it’s important to note the new
falaise equipped by Enzo Marlier just behind the refuge.
About
25 new ways will be prepared for summer 2005.
