Ostafa Pasture

Located eastwards of Mount Sarezza (2820 meters) this pasture represents an important starting point for winter sports lovers: here’s the cableway terminal, as a matter of fact. I’ve been there (on foots, of course) on Thursday 19th August 2004. Easily reachable, the Ostafa lays at 2450 meters and has got a little refreshment point close to the terminal. Further on there’s “La Tana del Lupo”, a bigger place.

You can arrive there with the cableway, starting from Crest. This year (2004) the adults return ticket cost seven Euros, but you can also take the carriageable which starts from Crest. It’s really panoramic and easy, but completely exposed to sun light and lacking of water, almost in the first part. It goes on in the meadows behind the pasture, and you’ll never see the cableway, not a bad thing anyway, then, after “La Tana del Lupo” and a modern pasture, you’re arrived. Please note that, in the last part, when you’re still parallel to deep Cuneaz’ valley, you’ll find a meadow with a tall rock in the middle; at its foots it’s easy to see many marmots. Finally, from Ostafa starts the easy no. 12 path, wich goes east towards Pinter Pass. It’s pretty crowdy, especially by trekkers heading for Testa Grigia, which stands over the Ostafa.
