Lake Litteran

Lying at 2228 meters over sea level, this lake is more easily reachable from Brusson. It’s a medium dimension basin, surrounded by steepy banks but green, capable to host picnics or simple breaks. It’s really crowded in August because it’s an easy run, the Litteran is overlooked by a col, and it’ on the carriageable for Palasina. I decided to put this lake in Alpinism section not because of its difficulty, but because of the possibility of reaching it from faraway Champoluc via Palasina Pass and Lake della Battaglia, or in MTB from Estoul. How can you arrive there?

Path 6 will take you at Estoul, where you can park your car, to the lake. Actually this path goes on to Mount Bieteron and it’s signaled as three hours long, but the lake is obviously nearer, and reachable in not more than two hours. As I said before, the path is in reality a carriageable, so you can get there by bike, although some tracts could discourage for the bottom’s unstableness. Anyway, maybe the slope by bike could look difficult, but think at the way back: in less than 20 minutes you’ll be at Estoul again!.

It’s necessary to renew an advice: water. You won’t find that, except the aforesaid Chanlossere’s trough. So take with you enough water to the whole day, and don’t drink the lake’s water at all!
