Cuneaz Located
at 2032 meters over sea level, Cuneaz village seems almost incredible to
the trekker who, from Crest, follows its signals. In facts it’s
located further, higher and on Crest’s right: hidden and invisible
from cableway terminal, it reveals itself as a pretty important village,
with ozens of baites and rascard; walser remnants are
easily recognizables. The
village was once dwelled all year long: the cows were taken for the good
season on the lower and the upper meadows. Cuneaz was a typical self –
sufficient village, with hay warehouses, and even a big bread oven,
restored and admirable nowadays, even if it’s really old. That oven
was particularly important, if you think that, by the end of XVIII
century, the community counted 76 heads.
