Champoluc

Located in Ayas Valley, which is also the greatest village, Champoluc is a little mountain town. It stands at about 1600 meters on sea level and it’s at foothills of important mountains: the Rosa glacier, the woody Crest Mount and the rocky shape of Testa Grigia and the triangular shape of Mount Zerbion looking at south. Champoluc got bigger during the years: now it has got many modern hotels, typical restaurants and bars, open for the invernal and summer season. The town is served by these cableways: Crest, Ostafa and Frachey, surrounded by woods, is crossed by the Evancon torrent. Medical and pharmacy services are guaranteed, as the public transports to Verres and also a little local taxi serice. In Champoluc you can’t miss the Waterfall, reachable with the road (Rue l’Ostorion) which starts just before the Tourists’ Office, on the left of the torrent; also the Old Village is unmissable, just go right from the central square. You can enjoy the spectacular view of the glacier from the Torrent Walk, and there’s many moore. The “Pratone” (translable as “Big Meadow”) closes the village on the way to Periasc, while the long and shady Frachey’s expanses close Champoluc on the way to St- Jacques and the glacier.
