Mount Crest

Unmissable aim for many and many trekkers, Crest is easly reachable by the cableway, or on foot if you prefer. It offers many meadows where pass a fine day under impressive peaks, as Mont Sarezza (2810 mts) and Testa Grigia (3313 mts), and represents a walk short enough to be done by anyone. Besides, taking the cableway to Ostafa (2715mts), you really get far from the valley floor! You can reach Crest on foot from Champoluc, taking the path number 13, which starts behind St. Anna’s Church. Alternatively, if you live in the northern part of the village and you don’t want to go down to the center, you just have to do a little part of a ski track called “Pistone”, then reach the 13, and arrive at the typical walser village of Frantze. From there, there’s only a pair of minutes left before arriving at the cableway arrival, after crossing the old village of course. Mount Crest is 1979 high, if you consider the cableway arrival, called Crest – Morelete. Further on, towards the glacier, lays Crest – Crefourne; from there start the ways to lakes Saler, Contenery and Ciarcerio (path 10A), and to Sousson (path 13B). The place is generally used as pasture, with some little woods. Local structures such hotels and restaurants are usually more active in the winter season, but you’ll can find some open on summer too.

Crest Mount isn’t limited at the aforesaid zone, but it likewise continues towards Mascognaz (which is linked by 13A path), and towards north, where we have two beautiful villages, Soussun and Resy. In facts it’s a long, woody ridge which runs parallely at the valley floor. It’s possible to cover it all, from Mascognaz to Resy, an intinerary which takes the traveller to visit places of rare beauty. Finally, Mount Crest is an important step for those who want to go “higher”: from the lakes Pinter to Perrin, from Testa Grigia to the typical village of Cuneaz, all the paths takes to the Crest. So, as you can see, it’s not only the perfect aim where to do sunbath in the alpine peace.
