Fiery Little
village located on the “glacier’s shoulder”, just over St.
Jacques, Fiery stands at about 1900 meters over sea level. A little
faraway, for those who come from valley floor, here’s Beau Bois resort,
charaterised by the old hotel near the meadow. It’s reachable in less
than 15 minutes from St. Jacques. It’s
good to remember that this little village hosted the famous poet Guido
Gozzano (1883 – 1916), exponent of “Crepuscolari”’s poetry,
during 1906 and ’07 summers, at “Bella Vista Hotel”. On a hotel’s
shutter he wrote the following verses: E' tanto stranoTra tante cose strane Un coso su due gambe Detto Guido Gozzano Who
wants to find any other details about his staying in the Valley, could
read the exhaustive book “La Pietra e il Sogno”, by Roberto Taioli,
Stylos editions, Turin 2004 (only in Italian, unfortunately).
