Antagnod
Important
winter sports resort, Antagnod is located a little bit higher than
Champoluc (1694 meters). You can reach it from the valley floor, or from
Champoluc, passing through Magneaz and Bisous villages. You just have to
follow the route which starts at the and of Moon’s Walk, just behind
Churen pizzeria. That way has got a particular view, especially if it’s
done on foot or by bike. The
first thing to note, once arrived at Antagnod, is the following:
there’s much space. There’s an old mulistorey car park, but it
isn’t really bigger. Antagnod lays mosty on a slop, except the centre.
The
view is superb, because you can admire the whole valley, from Zerbion to
the glacier. You can also see Crest’s top, Mascognaz and so on. The
Old Village is particularly lovely. It’s builts on levels, because of
the slope, until the churchyard. Behind the church there’s a little,
nice graveyard, whch has got an incredible panorama. You should also see
the church’s wooden altar.
Just
one more thing: just at the start of Old Village’s steps, you’ll
find a big restored rascard, and old buildings on severl floors which
hosts a handicraft shop. Under the high balcony, you’d see an embalmed
bear’s paw; ask someone to tell you the tale of the last valley’s
bear!
